2016 Ben Evans resource contributor of the year with 8.5M downloads
With over 6.8 million downloads already, I am offering a wide range of resources for use throughout Primary and some secondary schools.
My main resources are - spelling, leveled SATs questions for maths and science, learning mats for science, English and maths. spreadsheets analysis grids, and games and activities for science, maths and Christmas.
Resources will continue to be added so keep checking back.

A short story with 25 photographs to introduce aspects of the first world war. Ideal for assemblies or class discussions. Armistace Day. Wilfred Owen and Dulce et decorum est.
Photos can be used in teaching to focus on:
life in the trenches
propaganda posters of world war 1
under-age conscription
the meaning of the poppy
This is all through Wilfred Owen's poem the 'lie' of - dulce et decorum est (How sweet and honourable it is to die for one's country)
I wrote this initially for armistice day - useful for an 11th November assembly
2015 sats thresholds divided into sub levels based on thirds, where there is not an equal division into thirds, the larger third is given to the lower level
These 36 resources are based on the Collins maths scheme, but are easily transferable to any week’s learning as they are based on new expectations for each group.
Children stick these into their books at the start of the week’s learning journey and record at the end. I have chosen smiley faces as a sad, mixed and smiley can be too negative. I would suggest ways in which they can be used, though there will be more:
1. Either as a traffic light system, with children colouring them red, amber or green depending on how they see their progress, or
2. By adding hairs to the faces – 1 for not achieved, 2 for nearly and 3 for achieved.
I have created the 36 lists for each year group if you want to see progression of skills. I am in the process of developing assessments sheets for each core statement as well.

Simply enter the score for each child and word and the spreadsheet will analysis results in terms of words, PPG/non-PPG, SEN/non-SEN and Gender. All sheets fit onto A4 for ease of printing - 2 files - 30 or 60 children. Great for prediction of results, SEF or school improvement. Simply add a '1' for a correct answer and a '0' if wrong or not attempted

Need a clear, consistent and easy to use system for assessing maths without levels?
Maths areas covered:
number and place value
fractions
statistics
geometry
addition
subtraction
multiplication
division
measurement
ratio and proportion
algebra
The series contain 233 short assessment tasks for every statement from year 1 to year 5. Assessment without levels is about continuous assessment but within a structured and robust system to ensure consistency of approach. These assessments can be done quickly, at any time and repeated as the children will not know the answers. They can be done as a class, a group or individually.
The number of assessments are as follows
Year 1 – 20
Year 2 – 34
Year 3 - 33
Year 4 – 44
Year 5 - 49
Year 6 - 53
To support teachers, I have provided:
• Answers for each sheet
• Colour coded year group sheets
• An overview of all the statements organised by mathematical area
• A guide on what stage to assess the children at. I have used beginning, working within and secure as statements but these can be adapted to your system
Key STage 2 conversion tables for scaled score for 2018. Reading and maths. Also comparisons between 2017 and 2018 thresholds
to convert these to indicative progress scores please downloads my easy to use spreadsheets here
https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/pag-progress-and-attainment-calculator-for-2018-ks2-sats-30-60-or-90-pupil-versions-11909586
Enter each pupil’s details - name, gender, PPG and SEN status as well as their KS1 and KS2 SATs outcomes and this spreadsheet automatically calculates:
The prior attainment group (PAG) group for each child
individual, class and group pupil progress and attainment
calculates children’s attainment and progress based on their cohort, gender, PPG and SEN status
See pictures for how the data is shown.
what to do:
enter each child’s name, gender, PPG and SEn status to the pupil info tab only
Enter KS1 results (includes P levels)
Enter KS2 results scaled scores for maths and reading. For writing the following codes are accepted - GD, EXS, WTS, PKG, PKE, PKF, BLW, P8, P7, P6, P5, P4, P3ii, P3i, P2ii, P2i ,P1ii, P1i
From here the spreadsheet does the rest
Calculates the PAG for each child and from this, sets the targets in reading, writing and maths for each child, based on a R&W average and then a KS1 average - see attached DfE document for further guidance
Once the KS2 data is added, the spreadsheet calculates each child’s progress and this is reflected in a green or red formatting for easy reference
On the summary tab, progress scores are calculated for the whole cohort, boys, girls, disadvantaged and other, SEN support and no SEN. The percentage achieving the standard or higher for each of these groups as well as the percentages achieving RWM for each category. This is mirrored for the percentage of children achieving the higher standard in for each group and RWM. Finally, the average scaled scores are calculated for overall and each group.
In addition, you can enter your 2017 data for easy comparison.
Each sheet fits neatly onto an A4 sheet for use by governors, SLT or school ‘visitors’
Breakdown of each word from the 2015 Key Stage 2 test and how the spelling bees scheme covered 14 of the 20 words directly and the other 6 words indirectly through word families. See my listing for the full spelling bees scheme, the wide range of activities, displays and homework to embed the learning of spellings across the school.
